My Word for 2025

Greetings!

For the past six years or so I have selected a word to focus upon for the entire new year. Words in past years have included patience, presence, explore and others. I spend the last few months of the year thinking of the new word. I pray about it, ask God about it, and wait to see what signs I receive that I am on to something. Sometimes it takes time for the right word to come into focus. And this year was no exception.

I began thinking of light or lightbulb, as I have been focused on exploring how I can be a light or a lightbulb for the Lord here on earth. As my husband Tim and I went for a walk with our dog Grey Lady, I mentioned to him about my word. He turned to me and said “what about the word illuminate?” Wow, I loved it!

The definition for illuminate is to enlighten spiritually or intellectually, to supply or brighten with light, to bring to the fore front. In my actions, behaviors, and communications, I want to illuminate. I want people to see me, interact with me, and comment that I am alive, full of energy, lighten up a room, I am positive and a positive thinker, and the list could go on and on. I want the Lord to be pleased with my actions and behaviors and sees me as light for him on earth.

Illuminate will be the word for 2025.

Focusing on one word throughout the year is easier than coming up with a number of resolutions that will soon fade. I write the word at the top of each page in my calendar/portfolio so I see it continuously.

Maybe this is something you might want to try as well. If you do, please let me know your word and periodically I will ask everyone to tell me how things are going. It will be fun!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!

Until the new year, Nyda
